Why Japan? Why TS Japan Rail? Our video explains…
Famous for its bullet trains, but much more to see….
Japan a Rail Fan’s Paradise!
Japan is rightly proud of its high speed bullet train network, or “shinkansen” as it is known here, but there is a lot more see and learn about here.
Japan, over the last 150 years, has developed its railway infrastructure so as well as high speed trains, we have extensive urban networks, Limited Express trains covering most of the country, rural lines, trams and other light transit systems. Ultra modern such as the Maglev line being built to connect Tokyo and Nagoya to old steam locomotives
Urban Lines, rural Lines, Trams & Steam
A transportation system famous for its reliability and safety…
The Tokaido Shinkansen is the busiest high speed rail line in the world with trains departing every 5 minutes during peak hours. Tokyo’s Yamanote Line that has trains operating at 2~3minute intervals during the morning rush hours. Millions of passengers travel each day with 99% of trains running on time with a safety record second to none. Just observing this is amazing.

Nice introduction video!
Although my wife and I love travelling by train (wherever we are in the world) and although I know my way around Japan pretty well, having spent over 20 years exploring it off the beaten path, and despite my wife being Japanese, I can see there’s plenty I don’t know, which is why I was happy to team up with TS Japan Rail.
Working together we can help more rail fans explore more of Japan, creating exceptional travel and unique memories.
Thanks for your comment Rob! As you know TS Japan Rail is a big advocate of exploring Japan by Rail (as well as exploring Japan’s railways) and getting off the Shinkansen…, there is so much you can see, both as a tourist and a rail enthusiast! (in fact most rail enthusiasts I know locally in Japan avoid the Shinkansen as much as possible). TS Japan Rail is happy to work with The Real Japan to show people the many facets of Japan!
