NHK World‘s Japanology Plus features TS Japan Rail’s Stephen Turner travelling on the Kominato Railway.

Join Stephen Turner and host Peter Barakan as they embark on a scenic train journey through Chiba Prefecture’s historic Kominato Railway, for NHK World’s Japanology Plus. Turner talks about his love of Japan railways and travelling on local rural lines in particular.

The edition “Japanophiles: Stephen Turner” can be seen on the NHK World channel which is available on many cable TV systems both outside and in Japan and also (after the initial program broadcast) at any time via Video On Demand (VOD) on NHK World’s web site (use the link below)

Whether you are a tourist or a rail enthusiast the Kominato Railway is well worth a visit. It will be featured on a TSJR article with four other interest rail lines in Chiba prefecture soon!

 NHK is Japan’s only Public Broadcaster (equivalent to BBC in the UK). NHK World is the international broadcasting service of NHK, providing news, information, and cultural programming about Japan and Asia to a global audience. It is available as a subscription service on many cable TV networks and also free on the internet, with programs available on demand on NHK World’s website.
