Yes, the news many have been waiting for.
From 11th October:
- Foreign tourists will no longer need a visa to enter Japan (*)
- The daily cap on arrivals will be removed.
- Independent travel (i.e. you do not need to travel on a guided or unguided package tour) will be allowed.
- For persons who have not been vaccinated 3 times, a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival.
Further details may be published, including requirements for travel insurance (which we would recommend anyway whether mandatory or not).
